About
From Gusau to Auburn: an economist trained on three continents, asking who gains when policy and markets change.
- Based in
- Auburn, AlabamaNsukka, Nigeria
- Languages
- English, Igbo, Hausa, some Yoruba
Stephen grew up in Gusau, Zamfara State, and trained as an economist at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he now lectures. Graduate study took him to Durham University Business School for environmental and resource economics, to Michigan State University for agricultural, food and resource economics, and to Auburn University for his PhD.
His work asks a practical question: when policy, technology or markets shift, who gains and how do people respond? He answers it with applied econometrics and careful data work, from crop insurance and food demand in the United States to growth, remittances and banking across Africa.
